The final critical habitat for the Mountain Yellow-legged frog was completed following the below criteria, using ArcInfo Workstation, ArcGIS, and ArcView 3.3 for data creation and capture. - Downstream, upstream distance from recorded occurrences = 1, 495 m (locations buffered) - Terrestrial distance from stream (i.e. width) = 80m (each side) - Cut-off criteria for upstream distance = the mapped head of main stream stem - Cut-off criteria for downstream distance = no PCEs (i.e. permanent lack of aquatic environment), or unknown suitability of habitat, and limits of the 1,495m dispersal radius. - Inclusion criteria for side-tributaries = tributary streams that branch off the main stem within the downstream/upstream dispersal distance of 1,495 m from known occurrences). Essentially side tributaries that flow into occupied reach areas. To complete the above criteria, locations data was captured and categorized into Past Time of Listing "PTL" (Prior to 1982), At Time of Listing "ATL" (1982-2002), and Since Time of Listing "STL" (Post 2002). Once MYLF location data was identified and buffered to accuracy limits; the STL and ATL resulting accuracy buffers were combined into one complete polygon set. This polygon set was then buffered to the 1,495 meter limit. The 1,495 meter limit polygons were used to capture hydro stream lines, which were buffered to a 80 meter radius, resulting in a 160 meter wide habitat zone. Zones were limited by the 1,495 meter distance and lack of PCE's. Note: some zones were less than the 1,495 meter limit due to lack of PEC's. Following the habitat zone creation, the USFWS-CFWO 100m grid process was completed to capture the legal bounds.
