This USGS 7.5-minute quadrangle GIS dataset of California contains information on the abundance, spread and management status of 204 invasive plants on the Cal-IPC inventory. This distribution information is derived from 1 of 3 sources: expert knowledge interviews conducted around the state with land managers, Calflora data or CCH data. This information is dynamic and your export represents a slice in time. CalWeedMapper (http://calweedmapper.cal-ipc.org) shows a current picture of this data, including a history. The Cal-IPC inventory table was downloaded from (https://www.cal-ipc.org/plants/inventory/) and linked with the spatial quad data. The Inventory categorizes plants that threaten California's natural areas. The Inventory includes plants that currently cause damage in California (invasive plants) as well as "Watch" plants that are a high risk of becoming invasive in the future. Each plant occurrence in the Cal-IPC is assigned a rating of High, Moderate, and Limited. Based off the rating each occurrence was given an inventory rating (R). High=3, Moderate=2, and Limited=1. The distribution ranks (D) were assigned based of the OB_Value from the Cal-IPC inventory. The OB_Value was calculated from the CalWeedMapper invasion curve on the mapping page of CalWeedMapper webpage. Widespread=3, Moderate=2, and Trace=1.The level of invasion was estimated by multiplying invasive plant species impact (from Cal-IPC’s Invasive Plant Inventory rating) and distribution ranking (see https://calweedmapper.cal-ipc.org/) in each USGS quadrangle. Resulting values were summed for all invasive species and standardized to a score of 0-1 for every quad by dividing each value by the maximum possible score that could be achieved.
<purpose>This is a qualitative dataset of distribution information of the 204 invasive plants on the Cal-IPC inventory. It is meant to give a landscape level view of the terrestrial invasive plant threat within the quads from Cal-IPC inventory. </purpose>
