The dataset was created by Jacobs as a result of field surveys and monitoring that occurred prior to and during construction for Southern California Edison’s West of Devers Upgrade Project (WOD). The WOD project consists of upgrades to the existing 220 kilovolt (kV) transmission lines. These upgrades occur on approximately 30 miles of the Devers–El Casco 220 kV transmission line, 14 miles of the El Casco–San Bernardino line, 43 miles of the Devers–San Bernardino line, 45 miles of the Devers-Vista No. 1 and No. 2 lines, 3.5 miles of the Etiwanda–San Bernardino line, and 3.5 miles of the San Bernardino–Vista line. The Project will replace or upgrade the existing 220 kV transmission lines and structures between Devers, El Casco, San Bernardino, and Vista Substations to increase the system transfer capacity from 1,600 megawatts (MW) to 4,800 MW.Prior to and during construction, Jacobs and their subcontractors (GANDA and KMEA) surveyed within 500 feet of the disturbance areas of construction features, including transmission tower pads, guard structures, helicopter landing zones, telecommunication poles, wire and pull sites, substation pads, access roads, telecommunication lines, and other project components. In addition, observations were collected, documented, and reported during construction monitoring activities through December 31, 2018.
<purpose>The dataset was created to track the observations of special-status species, including wildlife and plants, observed during pre-construction activities including pre-construction surveys for the WOD project. CNDDB submissions of all special-status species observed during construction and during pre-constructions surveys is a requirement according to multiple project mitigation and compliance measures.</purpose>
