This layer is intended to be used as an informal means of spatially aggregating data collected by an array of regional teams monitoring drought effects upon California Streams. These informal regions are not definitive boundaries nor are they representative of any jurisdictional delineations of territory. These subregions are based upon spatially coherent subdivisions of California Department of Fish and Wildlife's seven geographically-defined administrative regions. A circular polygon has been added to the west of california in order to provide a spatial gateway for accessing statewide datasets and the full drought monitoring report.

The high resolution one has been renamed and is now the only DFG Regions layer. Also, some small inaccuracies in the DFG Region boundaries in various locations were corrected using linework from the current 24K county boundary layer (cnty24k09_1 - the official CAL FIRE/FRAP 2009 version). These corrections were done by DFG's Josh Little.</procdesc>
