    <descript>
Foothill Yellow-legged Frogs (Rana boylii) are currently recognized as a California Species of Special Concern, a non-regulatory designation intended to focus attention on animals at conservation risk, stimulate research on poorly known species, and achieve conservation and recovery of these animals before they meet criteria for listing as threatened or endangered under the California Endangered Species Act (CESA; Fish and G. Code, § 2050 et seq.). Additionally, the Foothill Yellow-legged Frog throughout its range in California and Oregon is currently under review by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for listing as threatened or endangered under the federal Endangered Species Act. Status Review Document: http://nrm.dfg.ca.gov/FileHandler.ashx?DocumentID=174663.
      <purpose>This data includes clade management unit boundaries as described in "A STATUS REVIEW OF THE FOOTHILL YELLOW-LEGGED FROG (Rana boylii) in CALIFORNIA" (2019). This layer is represented in figure 6 of the review document. The foothill yellow-legged (FYLF) frog clade boundaries are designated for management purposes and the listing recommendation of the Department. The California Wildlife Habitat Relationships (CWHR) range map for the FYLF has been updated to include Sutter Buttes and is referred to as an Estimated Historic Range; see the FYLF range map in ds589.
