This feature contains the spatial representations of ports and major port areas used within the Marine Landing Data System (MLDS). The point may not represent the exact port location.
<purpose>These ports and major port areas (complexes) are standard reporting locations for commercial fish landings reported to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW). Landings data are stored in CDFW's Marine Landings Data System (MLDS). Port names were geocoded to location using Microsoft Bing geocoding service with manual location adjustments made as needed.</purpose>
