Sonoma Ecology Center 20080101 vector digital data https://wildlife.ca.gov/Data/BIOS https://filelib.wildlife.ca.gov/Public/BDB/GIS/BIOS/Public_Datasets/300_399/ds333.zip The Arundo Distribution layer is a compilation of Arundo donax observations in northern and central California, obtained from several sources, including Arundo infestations mapped by Sonoma Ecology Center in areas where Arundo occurrence data were missing or incomplete. The primary focus of the data collection was on the San Francisco Bay Estuary and Delta CALFED regions, i.e., waters that ultimately drain into the San Francisco Bay. Data were also accepted from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Valley Region. This GIS layer is an indicator of the spatial and temporal distribution of Arundo occurrences represented by the contributed data. It is a data aggregation that serves as an index to the contributors' original data. The contributor should be consulted for further questions about the data. By using the link in the "Metadata" field for any specific Arundo occurrence record, the user can access a metadata record (stored at CERES, California Environmental Resources Evaluation system) with full contact information for the data contributor. This GIS layer was created to provide a 'big picture' of current Arundo distribution and support prioritization of future Arundo eradication efforts. Along with value-ranked stream and terrestrial habitat data, it will be used in a flexible modeling framework to generate suggested "hot spots" or priority sites for Arundo eradication in locations where Arundo threatens sensitive habitat and other resources in need of protection. If in doubt about the match between contributed attribute and CRISIS attribites, the contributed attribute was not used. Data records that lacked date of observation were omitted from this aggregation. Data were used "as is". No attempt was made to identify possible duplicate records within each contributed dataset. No attempt was made to "interpret" percent canopy, infested area, or gross area data: measurements not documented by the contributor's metadata were omitted from the compilation, and only the date and place of occurrence were used. Contributed data were originally collected by a variety of technologies. See individual contributor's metadata record at CERES by following the links in the "metadata" attribute field. If contributed datasets contained observations of plants other than Arundo donax, the Arundo were queried out and only Arundo observations were included in this compilation. Contributed data were collected by a variety of means so there is variation in accuracy of original point locations. If contributed data was a polygon or polyline, it was processed in ArcMap to produce a point that was constrained to fall within the polygon or on the polyline. All final point data were converted to GCS WGS84 coordinates in ArcMap. None See field "Metadata" for link to metadata for all contributed datasets, including full contact information. These links are also repeated in Supplemental Information section of this metadata record. If multiple plants were included in contributed data, only observations of Arundo were selected for this compilation. If source was polygon or polyline location of Arundo, it was converted to a point, constrained to fall within polygon or on the polyline. Processed source datasets were merged into a single point shapefile and re-projected to GCS WGS84. Existing attributes were mapped into a uniform attribute list based largely on CRISIS Maps attribute list. Contributed data records without observation date or coordinates were not included in this compilation. All coordinates were converted to latitude/longitude, WGS1984. SEC populated an additional field,"Metadata" to include the URL to metadata about the contributed data, posted at CERES CEIC.
