    <descript>
The California Air Resources Board (ARB) compiles air quality data from monitoring stations throughout California. This dataset represents the Annual average of the maximum 1-hour daily measurements (ppm) for the years 1990 and 1999.
      <purpose>The data are used to evaluate the nature and severity of the air quality problems in the state and to assess air quality trends. This data was used to display air quality data in the Salton Sea Atlas (ESRI Press).</purpose>
      <supplinf>This data is made available in tabular form by the California Air Resources Board. This tabular data has been enhanced with geospatial data by joining it to existing air basin data layers.</supplinf>
