Invasive Plant Survey Within California Coastal Watersheds from Salinas to Tijuana (currently in DRAFT form).
<purpose>Funded through Prop 50, this data is intended to represent a comprehensive collection of digitally available invasive plant surveys for giant reed, pampas grass, jubata grass, Mexican fan palm, and Canary Island date palm within California coastal watersheds from Salinas to Tijuana. For any given region, there can be additional high-priority species inventoried. This California Invasive Plant Council (Cal-IPC) mapping project is part of a larger statewide effort through CDFA, DFG, and the Cal-IPC to compile and integrate invasive plant data into a statewide database.</purpose>

<horizpar>Positional accuracy may vary across the project extent due to fluctuating base imagery resolutions that were available at the time of the pre-mapping and field surveys. For those sources that used high resolution aerial photography as a base source, Data collected is no better than that of the photography used to delineate extent. Up to two methods were used for the data compilation. These include (a) in-house pre-surveys using heads-up digitizing of high resolution vertical aerial photography combined with hi-res oblique photography as reference, (b) field mapping with the use of high resolution vertical aerial photography and an integrated Tablet PC/GPS, or c) a combination of both methods (pre-mapping followed up by field checking). Cartographic offsets may be present in the data due to several conditions including (a) GPS accuracy affected by quality of unit, and/or poor signal due to canopy cover, terrain, cloud cover, time of day, etc., (b) scale and legibility constraints within basemap aerial photography, (c) field mapper interpretational errors due to line of sight issues caused by dense vegetation, terrain, structures, etc.</horizpar>
