Distribution data for the Lane Mtn. milk-vetch was compiled from the California Natural Diversity Data Base (CNDDB), botanical surveys conducted on behalf of the DoD's Fort Irwin, field work by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service staff. Based on this inormation, polygons surrounding the known populations were digitized. An interim proposed critical habitat boundary was then drawn taking into consideration the potential movements of pollinators and local topography; to accomplish this we buffered the known population polygons by 1/4 mile, manually removing areas of steep topography.
