Developed for the California Seabird Catalog produced by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. This data shows the location of artificial structures created for use of seabirds for breeding purposes. Restricted to seabird species that breed along the coast and in the lower estuaries within the state's boundaries. It does not include marined birds that breed elsewhere and migrate to California coastal waters. Designed primarily to provide biologists, resource managers, regulatory agencies and researchers with the best available data on the size and location of California seabird colonies, in a standardized format. The information compiled serves as a baseline of recent and historic distribution and abundance of breeding seabirds in the state.
Point locations along the California coast that represent artificial structures created for use by seabird species.
