This dataset contains the general location of all land designated as"Indian Land" in California. The boundaries depicted in this dataset represent the general areal extent of Indian Land Jursidictional Boundaries including both those under Pacific Regional Office oversight and those lands that lie in California but are under Western Regional Office oversight. The boundaries are jursidictional and may reflect variable ownership interests within the boundary. There may be land in fee within a boundary. Use of this data is permitted for the purposes of showing the general proximity of Indian lands in relation to special request projects and developments in the State of California. The Pacific Regional Office of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) hereby grants said uses, including permission to produce maps for your general purpose only to illustrate the gross relationship of special projects to the location of Indian Trust Land. The permission does not extend nor extinguish any duties incumbent upon the user to contact and consult the appropriate BIA agency or tribal government office to verify the locations and proximity of projects which may impact Indian lands. Furthermore this data is not appropriate for use in performing calculations regarding impacts to Indian Trust Land. This data does not include the locations of public domain allotments which may also be impacted by special projects. Please be advised this dataset does not address questions of boundary or areas which an accurate survey map would disclose.
