To display the California Coastal Zone Boundary.
This polygon layer represents the Coastal Zone Boundary (CZB). It also includes the seaward 3 nautical mile state boundary as provided in a maritime limits file provided by NOAA, current as of July 2006. This is a hybrid dataset created by the California Department of Fish and Game from pre-existing sources (California Coastal Commission (CCC) and BCDC Boundaries).

Converted to California Teale Albers NAD83 by the California Department of Fish and Game. -------------------------------------- 7/28-2006 - File updated The inland boundary of the Coastal Zone has changed in several places within the last 4 years, particularly in Santa Barbara County. Please find attached the California Coastal Commission Coastal Zone Boundary (CZB) dataset for the State of California. This data depicts the California Coastal Commission's Coastal Zone Boundary for the State of California. It was digitized within AutoCAD from the Commission's certified Coastal Zone Boundary hard copy maps. The files were then imported into ArcView, and merged together following Commission jurisdictional boundaries (North Coast, North Central Coast, Central Coast, South Central Coast, South Coast, and San Diego). The line work was originally georeferenced to the USGS Digital Raster Graphics (DRG) in Teale Albers projection. The data was later refined to the DRGs in UTM, Zones 10 and 11, NAD 83 meters. This file is intended to be displayed upon the UTM DRGs as a base map. Attached is the following: StateWideCZB.123: ESRI shapefiles of the California Coastal Zone Boundary. UTM Zones 10 and 11, NAD 83, meters. StateWideCZB.123 is actually a ".zip" file. The extension was changed to avoid complications that result from our anti virus programs. Simply change the attached back to a ".zip" file before extracting the data. Hope this information is useful to you. Please note information on the digital Coastal Zone Boundaries below. Please contact me at 831.427.4874 if you have problems or questions. Sincerely: Greg Benoit Information on Digital Coastal Zone Boundaries: The boundary depicted in the attached file ('s) was digitized from the official 1:24,000 scale Coastal Zone Boundary maps, however, there are several important points to note about its use. The digital Coastal Zone Boundaries have not been adopted by the Commission, and do not supersede the official version of the Coastal Zone Boundary adopted by the Coastal Commission in March 1977 and amended from time to time since then.
